For judo player and physical education teacher, Filipa Cavalleri, Raiz stands out for its close relationships between parents, students, and educational community.

For parents, what stands out the most about Raiz and HighScope? Here are some characteristics pointed out by Michelle Dreimann, 2016.

Our daughter has been at this school for 6 months and we’ve started clearly noticing the difference. Greater sense of responsibility, greater ability to work in a team, cognitive development, and creative freedom in unexpected moments. In every school there is an effort for parents to fit in the teaching-learning process, usually homework has some textbook or research character, which parents do not always appreciate, and thus there is also an unnecessary competition about the results children obtain in the school. Here, I feel more integrated in a different way, which makes more sense to me because it allows me to participate and let my daughter, effectively, do her activities. We are very happy to have moved to this school.
Paula e Bruno Mendes, 2016

The best way to understand Raiz and the HighScope method is to visit it and see how children, teachers, and teams work in classroom “stations”. The fact that a student may guide you on a tour and be able to explain the teaching approach shows how different this school is.
Diana Baptista Vargas, 2016

Madalena is 5 and this is her first year at Raiz. Her development is visible to all, cognitively, creatively, emotionally, and socially, and in such little time!
The best of all is this comes along with her happiness in being at school, reflected in phrases such as “Mommy, can I stay late at school so I can enjoy it a bit more, please?”
There is nothing like knowing your children are with amazing professionals, who develop an excellent approach that makes them super happy. Grateful for everything.
Sofia Baptista e Jorge Almodovar, 2016

I couldn’t be happier with the school I chose for my daughter. Every morning, I go to work in peace because I know she is well taken care of and she is being formed as a person. The teaching approach with active learning brought me to Raiz but, with the same importance, we have the human side, the affective relations, the attention given to each child, the positivity, and the simple conflict resolution, the conscience of human beings’ education. In an educational socioemotional nest that makes me never want her to leave. I don’t want to leave! Because there is also plenty of space and dedication for the parents.

What moves students to do their best, every day? Listen to what Zainab Abiza has to say.
Zainab Abiza, 2016

A school I recommend because children develop and grow in wisdom, while being visibly happy.
Grandmother Maria Baptista Martins, 2016

To inject knowledge is easy… it’s what people do out there…
To be a pedagogue requires an understanding of each child’s reality, stimulating learning, taking care, and giving meaning to humans’ different development phases.
Sofia and Manuel enrolled this year, 2nd and 1st grade. Congratulations to the school for reaching the goals they set out, in a persistent, constructive, and honorable way.
